College Sport Regulations

College Sport Regulations for West Auckland (WTTA)

  1. Uniforms: All players must wear their official school sports uniform. The main colour of the uniform must not be white, as it is the same colour as the ball.
  2. Footwear: You must wear non-marking sports shoes at all times.
  3. Food and Drink: No food or drinks are allowed inside the playing area.
  4. Result Sheets: All result sheets must be filled out accurately and must be easy to read.
  5. Singles Attendance: Teams must name three players for singles matches. If a player is not present when their scheduled match is set to begin, they will lose that match by default.
  6. Spare Players: If a team is missing a player, they can borrow a spare player from another team. However, a player cannot “play down” (for example, a player registered in the A Grade cannot play a match in the B, C, or D Grade).
  7. B, C, and D Grade Substitutions: Teams in the B, C or D Grade with more than three players can rotate players for singles matches if the opposing team agrees before play starts. No individual player is allowed to play more than two singles matches. Any registered team member can play in the doubles match, even if they did not play singles.
  8. Reserves: After a match result has been decided, reserves are allowed to “sub in” to play additional singles games.
  9. Match Timing: Players are limited to a 2-minute warm-up before their match begins. The rest period between each game is limited to 1 minute.
  10. Table Efficiency: If tables become free because other teams have finished their games early, please use them to keep the competition moving.
  11. Match Scoring: All matches are played as the best of 5 games. Each game is played to 11 points.
  12. Ball Provision: WTTA will provide the competition balls.
  13. Health and Safety: Please report any health and safety issues immediately to the stadium manager. If you are in doubt about a potential issue, please report it anyway.
  14. Stadium Access: The stadium will be open and available for teams starting at 3:30 PM.
  15. Playing Area Access: Only the active players and the umpire are allowed inside the table barriers. All other team members and spectators must stay outside the barriers.
  16. Late Cancellations: If your team cannot attend, you must notify Waitemata Table Tennis at tournaments@wtta.nz by 12:00 noon on the day of the competition. This allows us to tell the other team so they do not travel for a cancelled match.
  17. No-Shows: Teams that do not show up three times without notice will be removed from the competition.
  18. Teacher Responsibility: Teachers must ensure that result sheets are fully completed and legible (especially player names and win counts) before handing them to the Stadium Manager.
  19. Rule Enforcement: During the first week of play, players will receive a warning for breaking rules 1 through 6. From the second week onwards, any further breaches may result in the player or team defaulting on their matches for that night.
  20. Official Rules: The tournament follows the official TTNZ regulations and ITTF Laws of Table Tennis.
  21. Final Authority: The Tournament Manager or Referee has the final say on all decisions and may change these regulations at any time.
